I visited Dr. Nutting to talk about my BPH and the possibility of having PAE performed for relief. I had been using a catheter since I was not able to empty my bladder. Dr. Nutting explained in detail the procedure and made me feel comfortable about the ins and outs of PAE. I felt like I was talking to a friend about an issue rather than a doctor using medical terms I did not fully understand. He was straight and to the point answering my questions before I even posed them. The recovery from the procedure is easy with a few bladder spasm for a couple of days. While it took about two months for the positive effect of the PAE to begin working, it did provide the needed relief. Thanks to Dr. Nutting for his knowledge, his skill and great bedside manner. Additionally, the entire staff at MIPS is friendly and helpful.
Before Dr Spencer started with my issues, we talked quite long and she studied my history and ordered the right tests to take on an extremely difficult case that I feel many would not have approached. I have been seeing Dr Spencer for 4 years and she's performed 4 surgeries. Because of my injury, I had an IVC filter in for 38 years and extreme insufficient venous flow. She was able to break through the filter and properly and professionally place many stents.
Before I met Dr Spencer, I was basically withering away slowly. For my edema to stay down to a somewhat proper level, I needed to be in bed with my legs elevated for 14 to 18 hours a day. My pump back to my heart WAS the bed. I massaged my legs and had them massaged, wore 20 to 30 mm Hg compression socks off and on, worked with a Compression Pump and wore special AFO's to protect my feet. It seemed the harder I strategized to protect my feet, these vulnerable rascals would break down with pressure sores. These sores took 34 to 56 days to be in bed 22 hours each day to heal most of them. It truly looked like this was my future until Dr Spencer kept working with me to stent the correct veins which allowed me to be up and moving. I really was in the midst of a very patient and gloomy future.
This awesome surgeon is also very pleasant and great with communicating (which is quite rare with my history).
I now live a life out of bed, except for sleep!
I am thankful to you Dr Spencer!
The compassion and caring along with his ability to listen to work out the best way to achieve your goals are unsurpassed! I have been in and out of the hospital since 2009 and I have a port accessed 24/7. On 9/5 I called his office in major pain. He was working in the hospital that day. His wonderful office staff called and passed on my need. He added me to his OR schedule and took care of me later that day! Thank you!
